Archant

BIDEFORD Blues and Appledore Junior FC have been able to buy new tables for the clubhouse thanks to a £500 donation from Bideford Round Table.

The new tables will be manned on match days by a team of volunteers who run the kitchen and sweet stall.

Peter Evans, club secretary and lead coach, said: “They give their time free of charge, serving home and away supporters alike in a friendly, cheerful manner.

“When an opportunity like this arose from the Round Table we felt it was a real opportunity to say thank you to all those who work in the background to provide the bacon baps each week.

“The income from the kitchen also helps to keep membership fees as low as possible for the 300 members aged from six-to-16.”

Fine form continues against Fremington

AN excellent team performance helped Appledore under 10s maintain their good run of form in the Westcountry Cleaning Services North Devon Youth League with a 2 -1 victory at home to Fremington on Saturday morning.

Unbeaten since October, Appledore took the lead thanks to a determined run and finish from Poppy Cloke midway through the first half.

Sami Gillett added Appledore’s second goal shortly before half time with a strike from just outside the box.

Both teams had chances in the second half but were thwarted by fine displays from goalkeepers and defenders at both ends.

Fremington pulled a goal back five minutes from time, but Appledore held on for the win.
