Bideford’s walking football team will be looking to conquer the South West after strolling to their second consecutive Devon Walking Football League title.

The Robins will play in a South West regional final competition in September, where they will take on winners from Gloucestershire, Wiltshere, Somerset and Dorset.

It follows a triumphant league campaign that saw them lose only one of their 26 fixtures.

They sealed the title in April, taking five wins and a draw from their final round of fixtures, including a 3-0 win over second-place Plymouth Argyle and a battling 4-3 win over Exminster St Martins.

Before their regional finals, Bideford will be hosting the Dartington Crystal Cup.

The tournament – now in its second year – will be held at Sandymere on Saturday, July 22.

Joining Bideford will be teams from Exminster, Exeter, Ilfracombe, Plymouth, Uxbridge and Hampshire’s Retro Rangers.

Last year’s inaugural event was won by a team of Bideford AFC Youth coaches.
