RUNAWAY Senior Division winners Bideford Reserves added the Combe Martin Cup to their trophy cabinet with a 6-1 win over Pilton Academicals in the final on Saturday night.
The first half was close, with Joe Grimley opening the scoring for Bideford from the penalty spot, before Matt Hunt levelled for the Accies.
The turning point came just before the break when Jake Shambrook and Sam Stephens hit two goals in quick succession. Although Pilton battled well to keep the score at 3-1 until midway through the second half, their challenge was effectively over and Bideford went on to extend their lead through Rick Williams, James Rees and Matt Kelly.
Chittlehampton will make their return to Premier Division football next season after a break of 14 years.
The door was left open when only challengers for the runners-up spot Braunton Reserves were held to a goalless draw midweek by Wrey Arms.
It left Chittle needing a win at home to Shamwickshire Reserves on Saturday to take the promotion spot and they cruised through 5-0.
Kevin Lishman led the way with two cracking first half goals and Jamie Gifford, James Campbell and Matthew Ransley added more after the break.
For manager Dave Peters it is success in his first season with the club, following previous promotion wins while with both South Molton and North Molton. And for previous player manager Kevin Hussell it is a long-awaited return to premier football and ‘good still to be around to see them go back up.’
Woolsery were 4-1 winners at home to North Molton Reserves, going 3-0 up at the break with a hat-trick from Ryan Mudway. North Molton pulled one back early in the second half, but Nick Glover then restored the gap.
