The Robins returned to Evo-Stik League South West with three points this afternoon (Saturday)
Two goals in the first five minutes ensured Bideford got back to winning ways at home to Cirencester Town this afternoon (Saturday).
The Robins beat their Gloucestershire counterparts 3-0 in their return to Evo-Stik League South West action.
A spectacular effort from Billy Tucker and a penalty from Ryan Turner put the Robins 2-0 up before the five minute mark. Craig Allan added the third three minutes into injury time in the first half.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men on the hour when goalkeeper Matt Wieczorek was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Turner 10 yards outside his penalty area.
Tucker got the hosts off to a perfect start in the second minute when he picked the ball up and dribbled it to the edge of the box before firing into Wieczorek’s top left corner.
The front three of Tucker, Turner and Ben Seymour harried the Cirencester defence throughout, and that was exactly how Bideford got the penalty for their second goal.
Seymour slipped Tucker in down the left flank only for Will Christopher to bundle him over. Referee Stuart Kane immediately pointed to the spot.
Turner stepped up and coolly slotted his spot-kick into Wieczorek’s bottom right corner to double the Robins’ lead.
Seymour almost made it three for the home side midway through the first period, but the Exeter City loanee pushed his effort wide.
At the other end, the Bideford defence were able to thwart any opportunities their opponents had. Steve Oliver saved well from a Matt Jones free-kick, as well as an effort from Aiden Bennett earlier in the half.
The Robins all but wrapped the game up with the final bit of action in the first half.
Tucker’s free kick from the right wing found an unmarked Ryan Turner, who flicked the ball into the path of Allan, who was on hand to turn the ball in.
Bideford started the second half where they left off, with Seymour going close to adding a fourth in the first minute after the restart, but for an excellent save from Wieczorek with his feet.
The Cirencester goalkeeper was given his marching orders 15 minutes later. When Matt Bye sent a long ball into acres of space, the keeper entered a foot race with Turner to try and win the ball. The Barnstaple striker got there first, and after prodding the ball through was clattered by his opponent.
With Kane showing Wieczorek a red card, it was left to assistant manager Scott Rose to go in goal, coming on at the expense of Henry Spalding.
The replacement goalkeeper wasn’t too troubled over the course of his 30 minutes in goal, as the Robins sat back for their fourth league win of the season.
