Barnstaple Town 2-2 Shepton Mallet

BARNSTAPLE Town followed up their win at Devizes at the weekend with a solid midweek draw with promotion-chasing Shepton Mallet at Mill Road on Tuesday night.

85 people turned out to see Barnstaple go toe to toe with Shepton – currently second in the Toolstation Western League First division – and come away a point after an exciting game which finished two-apiece.

Town showed great resilience to twice come from behind and earn a point, which helped them move up to eight in the league.

Ashley Willmot put the visitors in front before frontman Ryan Turner levelled for the home side.

Shepton again went in front in the second half, this time courtesy of a Harry Sherwood strike, but the scores were levelled again when top scorer Billy Tucker converted a penalty to earn Town a share of the spoils.

Barnstaple, who still have a number of games in hand on all of the teams above them, will hope to continue their good form at home to bottom-of the-league Portishead Town on Saturday.
