Appointment comes after Richard Pears stepped down as manager after defeat on Saturday

Barnstaple Town have appointed joint managers to run the team until the end of the season.

Kevin Darch and Dave Griffiths will oversee the remainder of the club’s Evo-Stik League South West campaign, a decision taken at a club meeting last night (Wednesday).

Darch and Griffiths were assistant managers to Richard Pears, who stepped down as manager after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Cirencester Town.

Their first match comes on Saturday, with a trip to Larkhall Athletic.

In a statement, Barnstaple Town chairman Jasmine Chesters said: “We are half way through the season already and believe that it would be the best way forward.

“We have seen many changes with players over the last 18 weeks and hope to progress to a more settled local team.

“Barnstaple Town Football Club will all pull together but still need your support and I hope that you will join with me in wishing Kevin and Dave all the best for the task they have taken on.

“It may not be an easy task but they are prepared to put the time and effort into bringing the team together to win games, because I know that is what you all wish for.”

Barnstaple currently sit second from bottom in League South West, taking 13 points from 19 games.
