Barnstaple have applied for promotion to the Evo-Stik Southern League
Barnstaple Town have applied for promotion to the Evo-Stik Southern League.
The club achieved promotion to the premier division of the Toolstation Western League last season and has made a strong start to the campaign – they’re currently sixth with games in hand on all of the teams above them.
It would be a big move for Town, conditional on them winning their division.
Club chairman Jasmine Chesters said: “Barnstaple Town Football Club has always had aspirations to move up through the football leagues.
“After playing tremendous football last season and winning the Toolstation Western League first division, our team were promoted to the premier division and with that came an invitation to apply for a place in the Southern League.
“Only a few clubs are given the option to do this and the board, management and supporters are all in favour of us making an application.
“The players, still being lead by (manager) Barry Yeo and (assistant) Karl Baggaley, will hope to take this opportunity to move into a different league once again.
“I know that they will strive to win the premier division and are looking forward to the challenge to keep moving upwards.”
