Almondsbury UWE 1-6 Barnstaple Town

BARNSTAPLE Town moved up to fourth in the Toolstation League first division by scoring six for the second time in four days.

Barnstaple followed up Saturday’s heart-stopping 6-4 win at Roman Glass St George with a 6-1 win at Almondsbury UWE on Tuesday night.

The reverse fixture back in November also produced seven goals, with Barnstaple winning 4-3 at Mill Road, but this time Town were far more comfortable after taking the lead in the seventh minute and never looking back.

Lee Francis headed in to give the visitors the lead early on, before Almondsbury got back on terms.

From then on, there was only ever going to be one winner, with Ryan Turner putting Barnstaple back in front.

Top scorer Billy Tucker then grabbed a goal to make it 3-1, before Jed Harper-Penman netted Barnstaple’s fourth.

And Barnstaple weren’t done yet, with Tucker and then Turner bagging braces to complete another excellent attacking performance from Barry Yeo’s men.

Barnstaple have now climbed to fourth, five points behind fifth placed Welton Rovers with three games in hand.
