Barnstaple Town 2-0 Devizes Town

BARNSTAPLE Town finished their home season with a 2-0 win over Devizes on Saturday.

The three points, which came courtesy of a Dave Pearse double, secure third place for Town in the Toolstation Western League first division ahead of their final game of the season on Monday.

A fourth straight win took Barnstaple back above Wincanton Town, who have already finished their season, with a game to spare.

Pearse finished well to put Barnstaple a goal to the good after half an hour after good work from Jed Harper-Penman.

The home side looked by far the better team on the day, and after a string of chances went begging the lead was doubled on the hour mark.

Lively forward Ryan Turner nicked the ball away from the onrushing Devizes ‘keeper before calmly squaring across the six yard box for Pearse to volley home.

Billy Tucker, who missed the game on Saturday, was voted player of the season for his impressive 30-goal haul.
