Appledore moved into the top half of Division One East with a win away to bottom club Sidmouth.
But they had to come from behind before taking the points by the odd goal of five.
The Fishermen were a goal down within six minutes when a long ball from home keeper Jack Burgess was knocked on for forward Matt Rasmussen to fire home.
They were back on terms on the half-hour when Mark Clarke drove home with a low shot and took the lead after an hour with a shot from Sam Fishwick.
The game was effectively made safe five minutes later when substitute Ryan Turner rounded the home keeper to score a third.
But Sidmouth stillrefussed to give up and grabbed a late consolation second goal.
