Appledore lost out to Teignmouth by the odd goal of five in a Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Division 1 East game of twists at turns at Marshford on Saturday.
The Fishermen just failed to get away after hauling back from 2-0 down only to lose out to a goal in the final minute.
Teignmouth were ahead with a tremendous long-range shot inside of the first minute and volleyed home a second just five minutes later.
But Appledore steadied themselves and pulled one back midway through the opening half when Roger Boneparte turned in a low cross from Sam Box.
After 35 minutes they were level when player-manager Keith Shapland shot home from 20 yards.
The second half saw the Fishermen go in search of a winner. But only to see their visitors net all the points with a headed goal in the last minute.
Holsworthy chalked up their first away win in Division 1 West since the opening week of the season with a 4-2 results away to St Dennis.
They fell behind after 10 minutes, but struck back midway through the opening half through Lee Morgan to go 1-1 at the break.
Within five minutes of the re-start Morgan struck again. Dean Chidley made it 3-1 with an hour played and stretched it to 4-1 from the penalty spot before the Cornishmen grabbed their second 15 minutes from the end.
