Braunton Reserves made progress in the Combe Martin Cup, beating Shamwickshire Reserves 3-2 after extra time.
It was the first of two close cup quarter-final defeats for Shammy, who also lost out to Wrey Arms in the Braunton Cup in a penalty shoot-out the next day.
Ryan West gave Shammy the lead and Louis Murrell equalised before half-time. That was the way it stayed for the rest of the 90 minutes. Ryan Hawkes put Braunton in front in the opening minutes of extra time.
A late penalty, converted by Ben Sherborne, brought Shammy back on terms, but Steve Burley snatched a winner for Braunton in the dying minutes.
Merton were also extra time winners, coming back from 2-0 down at home to Northam Lions reserves
Park United fielded a reshuffled team for their match at home to Chittlehampton in a third versus second Senior Division clash.
By half-time there was nothing in it, with the sides level at 3-3, but the second half saw Park punished for defensive errors as second-place Chittlehampton pushed to an 8-3 victory.
Jamie Gifford scored four, Keiron Lisman three and Matt Ransley one for Chittle while Park’s goals came from Steve Skinner, Mark Hill and Anthony Moyse.
Barnstaple AAC Reserves battled well against on-form Bude, twice coming behind before finally losing by the odd goal of five.
Ollie Gould and Ollie Rigler netted the Ammies’ goals and a chance to draw level for a third time was narrowly missed when they hit the crossbar in the dying minutes.
