North Devon teenagers Lily Nichols, 16 and Ellie Parker, 18, from Woolacombe Surf Life Saving Club have returned from Sweden with six European Surf Life Saving medals.
The North Devon pair were selected to represent Great Britain at the European championships in Jonkoping.
Ellie’s outstanding performances won her two individual silver medals in the board race and beach flags. Younger team mate Lily also excelled in the board race and won the bronze medal.
The pair then competed together in the board rescue, comfortably winning the silver medal.
The British team finished in fourth place overall, only 24 points behind third place - the closest they have ever come to taking the bronze.
Great Britain’s women excelled and won the overall beach and water events and were awarded third aggregate place in the whole competition.
Both Lily and Ellie hope to continue their medal success when they represent Great Britain again in the senior category after being selected to compete for GB in Japan in the Sanyo Cup later this month, when they will be joined by their Woolacombe team mate Jo Devine.
