North Devon angling scene with Tony Gussin
Stafford Moor near Dolton has thrown up a couple of unusual catches this week.
Kevin George landed two nice ghost carp, including a 28lb specimen, from Beatties Lake.
Meanwhile, Ian Philimore hooked a monster eel at Beatties – he didn’t weigh it but it’s certainly a good size for a freshwater eel.
Chrissy Waring and her husband Geoff both fished on the inlet swim on Beattie’s Lake using Mainline Cell boilies and had five fish out in a day session up to 24lb.
Keith Maker took four fish on the summerhouse swim on Sticky Baits Manila boilies up to 19lb 2oz.
Eddie Baldwin and Charlie Simpkins had 19 fish out from the dam wall on Lodge Lake over the weekend as well as a 7lb 3ox eel for Eddie.
Andy Stapleton and brother Dom had seven fish out from Lodge in a 24 hour session.
On the sea front, no fish were weighed in for the opening North Devon League heat of the new season. The date for the July heat will be announced in due course.
Combe Martin SAC members fished along the North Devon and Somerset coast for their Summer Rover.
James Hunter took the top places with thin-lipped grey mullet of 4lb 1oz and 3lb 12oz.
In third place was John Shapland with a thin-lip mullet of 3lb 11/2oz.
Daniel Welch tempted a thick lipped grey mullet of 3lb 7oz and a colourful wrasse.
