Barnstaple shooter Dean Bale has won a bronze medal at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The 21-year-old secured his medal in the final of the men’s 50m rifle three positions at Belmont Shooting Centre.
Bale was the penultimate player to be eliminated in Saturday’s final, scoring 441.2.
India’s Sanjeev Rajput took the gold medal, scoring 454.4, while Canada’s Grzegorz Sych’s score of 448.4 got him the silver medal.
It was midnight in the UK when the Barnstaple shooter began shooting for a place in the final, finishing third in the qualifying event.
He sat in sixth after the prone and kneeling rounds of the final, but produced the highest score of the third round to launch himself into medal contention.
Saturday’s bronze medal comes less than a week after Bale’s Commonwealth Games debut in the 10m air rifle competition, where he finished seventh overall.
