SHEBBEAR College are the Devon under 14 cricket champions after a 55-run win over Exmouth in last week’s final.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Shebbear notched 185-6 in their 35 overs, due in no small part to captain Shian Brathwaite’s superb knock of 112 not out.

The Barbados U14 captain was the only player to get going with the bat, though, as Exmouth captain Sid Fereday took 2-28, with two more falling to Hall.

Exmouth’s chase was never really on track, with wickets falling regularly to restrict them to 130-8, despite the best efforts of Hurley (24) and Fereday (19).

Shebbear’s Jabez Weale steamed in to take early wickets, while Eloise Maxa bowled very tidily from the other end to restrict their opponents’ run scoring.

The spinners then took over, with Maxwell Lewis and Carl Stanbury turning on the screw.

After their momentous victory, Shebbear will now go on to represent the county in next year’s national U15 championships.
