Archant

Batsman slams 126 not out as Bideford record whopping cup final win.

JOSH King slammed a whirlwind 126 not out to set Bideford on course for a whopping 187-run win over Heathcoat in the Stay In North Devon League Cup final.

There was no respite from the start for the Heathcoat bowlers with James Ford anchoring one end for 91 and Mike Young belting 61 at run-a-ball rate as Bideford reached 139 for two in the 30th over.

Young’s demise brought King into the middle and he showed Heathcoat no mercy at all.

During a 55-ball stay King lashed seven fours and 12 sixes as Bideford raced to 320 for four before their overs ran out.

There was a stand of 117 with Ford and another of 59 with Will Barrett, who was out with three balls to go.

The asking rate was always beyond Heathcoat, who were 133 for nine when their overs expired.

Pick of the bowlers for Bideford with three each were Martin Stewart and Chris Luxton.

Bideford 320-5 (J Ford 91, M Young 61, J King 126; D Penberthy 2-65), Heathcoat 133-9 (D Penberthhy 42, W Thompson 31; C Luxton 3-45, M Stewart 3-32, I Hayter 2-4).
