King’s match to remember

BIDEFORD Cricket Club’s annual Steve Elworthy Memorial Match featured a masterful display with the bat by youngster Josh King.
The 20-year-old hammered 152 not out from 111 balls during the 40-over game between the under and over 30s.
King hit 13 fours and eight sixes, going from 100 to 150 in only 13 balls. He put on 155 with Mike Young (80 off 54 balls) in 18 overs as the Youngsters amassed 274-6 in their 40 overs.
After tea the Oldies managed to make 238 all out with three wickets each for Alex Savage and Martin Stewart.
Former Bideford player and clubman Steve Elworthy died in 2003 and every year, the club holds a match in his memory. His parents Rudleigh and Pam are invited to present the cup to the winning captain.
