Aussie Roach makes Bideford bow

New overseas player, from Adelaide, Australia, makes promising 43 on debut

BIDEFORD Cricket Club’s 2014 overseas player Joshua Roach says he is ‘really looking forward’ to his time in England.

Josh, 21, landed at Heathrow Airport at 5.30am last Tuesday, and by 2pm he was taking the field for Bideford against Bristol Banks Cricket Club.

Josh, from Glenelg Cricket Club in Adelaide, South Australia, is spending the summer in Westward Ho!, helping to coach the colts and playing matches for the first team.

He certainly didn’t waste any time making an impression, scoring a quickfire 43 from 46 balls in his first outing for the club.

“I have heard good things about Bideford Cricket Club from Max Curtis and Josh King, who I met in Australia, and I am really looking forward to spending the English summer over here,” he said.
