BARNSTAPLE Colts lacked the finishing touch away to Okehampton and that probably cost them the game.
Although Barum lost 15-3, they had most of the possession and territorial advantage, but could not put away the chances that came their way.
Barnstaple’s pack put in a good performance out muscling their counterparts in the loose and had the better in the line outs with Ashlee Crouch, Man of the Match Quinten John, Danny Giblett, Ollie Sanders and Mathew Phillips all showing well
Okehampton only got in Barnstaple’s 22 a handful of times before the break and they scored twice to go 12-0 up.
Barum put more pressure on Okes in the second half Iwan Williams causing havoc on the left wing and going close twice.
Dom Thorne put in his usual good performance.
Calum Sumners kicked a penalty in front of the posts to bring the game back 15-3.
Barum were held up over the line in the last 15 minutes.
Although defeated, Barnstaple can take positives from the game and would be happy to go back to Okehampton in the play-offs if required.
Devon Plate
BIDEFORD U14s had a convincing home win 58-0 over Torrington in the Devon Plate competition.
Try scorers were Jack Willes, Sam Musselwhite, Daniel Morris, Mark Withecombe, Ollie Constable and Kai Abbott.
Credit must go to a battling Torrington side, who finished strongly.
