In a tightly contested encounter the sides effectively marked each other out, until a long throw into the box after 89 minutes was flicked on by Rob Kearney and Ollie Robinson was there to tap in the matchwinner.

Man-of-the-match went to Clovelly’s keeper Ashley ‘Buzz’ Burton for a fine all-round game and two super saves.

A last-gasp goal kept Ilfracombe 3rds in the running away to Putford Reserves and they went on to win through in a penalty shoot-out.

Ilfracombe opened the scoring through Steve Burns, but Dave Tithecott and Brad Prouse then turned the tables to put Putford 2-1ahead before Ki Stanley snatched Ilfracombe a second chance with an equaliser in the final seconds.

Extra time brought no more goals, but a penalty shoot-out saw Ilfracombe keeper Lee Prosser save twice to see his team through 4-2.

Ryan Tape was the matchwinner for Hartland, hitting four goals in their 5-3 Arlington Cup win away to Woolacombe and Mortehoe after extra time. The other came from Richard Davey.

Woolacombe came from behind three times with goals by Stuart Haynes and James Dyer to finish 3-3 at the end of normal time.

Craig McConnachie was the Merton man-of-the-moment, scoring the only goal in their 1-0 win at home to Landkey.

Another close encounter was the 2-1 win by High Bickington at home to Braunton 3rds.

A good cup tie saw the visitors take the lead through George Birch with the wind at their backs in the opening half.

High Bickington came back early in the second half with a goal by Jason Hammond and added a second through Michael Boundy. Braunton redoubled their efforts, but were unable to find the equaliser.

Woolsery were 4-2 winners away to AFC Anchor.
