Diamonds beat Plymouth Pilgrims by five in opening fixture of the season

Carol Anne Diamonds got their South West Regional League One campaign off to a good start on Sunday.

The North Devon netballers beat Plymouth Pilgrims 40-35 in their first game of the season, played centrally at Paignton.

Diamonds were slower out of the blocks, with their opponents going in eight goals down at the end of the first quarter.

A squad reshuffle and some fresh legs swung the contest in the second quarter, and Diamonds went in at half time a goal ahead.

An evenly matched second half ticked along, but with some good momentum and a bit more consistency, Diamonds took the victory.

Lauren Huggins and Rebecca Priest were named players of the match.

Carol Anne Diamonds: Charlotte Frickleton, Kelly Hawkings, Samme Ten-Bokkel, Taylor Hawkings, Lauren Huggins, Meg Bailey, Emma Walker, Rebecca Priest, Lizzie Hannah, Katie May.
