3-1 win for Bideford College Exeter City Football Academy
Bideford College’s Exeter City Football Academy started their second season the British Colleges South West League in fine fettle with a 3-1 win over Cornwall College.
Skipper Adam Doble led from the front with a fine hat-trick to claim the match ball in a squad which has been improved since last season through the addition of year 12 students.
The match at Moreton Park playing fields was a a tight affair for the first thirty minutes. However, as the game went on Bideford’s midfield trio of Alan Woodcock, Billy Rhodes and Charlie Allman gained a stranglehold and began to feed willing centre forward Kristian Hancock. He was well supported by wide men James Fay and Adam Doble and it was captain Doble who fired his team ahead. Doble then added two more to complete his hat-trick before Cornwall netted a consolation in the dying minutes.
Bideford travel to Redruth to meet Cambourne College on Wednesday hoping to repeat their opening day success.
Coaches Jason Smith and Dave Langford both remarked on the growing maturity of the side and its strong team ethos and are optimistic that even better things are still to come.
