SHARP shooters from C (North) Company of the Devon Army Cadet Force (ACF) have fired their way to first and second place in a Devon-wide target shooting competition.
An ACF detachment from Torrington took first place in the .22 team shoot followed closely by a team from Holsworthy.
The four highest scoring individuals were Cpl Edwards, Cdt Fisher and L.Cpl. Goodhead from Torrington, and Cdt Hibern from Holsworthy.
Torrington also did extremely well in separate national competitions, placing first in Devon for both the Cadet 100 Shoot (16th in UK) and the News of The World shoot (8th in UK).
Torrington’s Staff Sergeant Ellie Kinsella took 94th place in the Cadet 100 individual competition in which 1,555 cadets across the UK participated.
Target shooting, which can be used towards The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, is just one of many activities on offer to young people of 12 to 18 years through membership of the ACF.
