Fourths turn on the style with flowing display of football.
BRAUNTON Fourths leapfrogged Barnstaple FC Reserves with an emphatic 6-0 win in the Intermediate Two division on Saturday.
Seb Latham and Danny Ball both scored two each and there were singles for Dan Crocombe and Tom Cheetham in a 6-0 win at Buckland Brewer.
Pick of the bunch was Cheetham’s goal – Braunton’s fourth – a flowing team move involving five players and around seven touches from goalkeeper to striker.
Barnstaple were unable to overcome a resilient Chittlehampton Reserves defence that stood firm to protect 17-year-old sub Tom Latham’s second-half strike in a 1-0 win.
Phil Roberts scored a hat-trick for Anchor Chiefs Reserves in a 3-2 win at North Molton Thirds. Tyler Newham and Matt Yates were on target for the Stags.
Turlough Adley opened the scoring for South Molton Reserves in a 6-1 win at home to Georgeham & Croyde Reserves.
The Images increased the scoring through Jeff Henry’s double and pulled away with further goals by assistant manager Dave Read and first senior goals for Ben Evans and Richard Shapland.
Despite the Image’s prowess in front of goal, it was goalkeeper Johney Jenkins who was named man-of-the-match for pulling off a string of great saves.
