Big wins for free-scoring Apollo and Diamonds in North Devon Netball League

12:26 22 January 2014

Teams show why they top division one by netting in excess of 60 each

Titans Apollo and Carol Anne Diamonds both demonstrated their superior skills in the North Devon Netball League – both netting more than 60 goals en route to big wins this week.

Apollo dispatched of Frank Heard’s Heffers 68-15, while Diamonds were far too strong for Pat Williams Girls.

Carol Anne Sapphires faced club rivals Trolls and took the points winning 45-28. Trolls have struggled for players this season, trying different combinations with Kate Bulled and Lisa Lark moving into the shooting circle and new recruit Vicky O’Connor making a difference.

Sapphires took the early lead but Trolls fought back and maintained the same difference for the middle thirty minutes. Sapphires stepped up a gear with great defence by Vicky Brooks and Rebbekkah Hoskin and accurate shooting from Laura Manley to extend their lead to the final whistle.

In division two, Millie White led Titans Pluto to victory over Carol Anne Emeralds. The match was close initially but White started to dominate in the attacking circle and enabled Pluto to pull away. Ellie Bracher was superb in defence for Carol Anne Emeralds and made Pluto work for the points.

Langtree Re-Unites Reckers moved back up the table in division three after regaining their form against Georgeham Rocks.

They started strongly with Elsa Thorne scoring freely and never looked back. Gemma Adams worked hard throughout the match for Georgeham but Langtree interrupted the play in the mid-court to gain possession and convert their goals.

Maxine White once again found the net in division four as North Devon Homes Stars just edged out Venners Bakery Jumping Japs.

Stars took the early lead but Katie Hevingham broke down their play to bring Japs back into the game. Maxine White held her nerve and shot important goals in the final minutes to secure a one-goal win.
