Bideford AFC Youth U18 3-2 Barnstaple Town Youth U18
Bideford AFC Youth U18s got the better of their Barnstaple Town counterparts in a thrilling Regency Cup final on Friday.
Bideford left it late, but completed a terrific comeback with two goals in the last five minutes to win the game 3-2.
Biddy opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Ethan Brooks, and had chances to increase their advantage before Barnstaple levelled well from a corner.
In the second half, the high-tempo was sustained by both teams, and it was Barnstaple who got their noses in front midway through the half.
Barnstaple could easily have added a third but failed to make the most of their sustained period of pressure, and the game was level again when Sid Cole got clear and beat the ‘keeper to make it two apiece.
With extra time looming, Bideford’s pressure told and after Barnstaple failed to clear their lines the ball dropped nicely for Charlie Allman to wrap up the win in the 89th minute.
The cup, sponsored by Regency Estate Agents, was presented to the players by Neil Armstrong, with Connor Davis picking up the man of the match award for his fine display.
