Bideford 3-2 Taunton Town
Bideford are through to the second round of the Red Insure Southern League Cup after a thrilling 3-2 win over Taunton Town.
The in-form Robins were pushed hard by their Division One South and West opponents and went a goal down after 15 minutes courtesy of Nat Pepperell’s 20-yard strike.
But Premier high-fliers Bideford were ahead by the break thanks to two headed goals from Sean Downing, who has recently been selected for an FA representative XI picked by England C boss Paul Fairclough.
Parity was restored shortly after the hour mark by Taunton, as Steve Murray clipped the ball into the back of the Biddy net.
But that only lasted a matter of moments as Rob Farkins fired the home side back in front.
Bideford finished the game with 10 men after Craig Duff saw a straight red in bizarre circumstances, as nobody seemed to see the incident.
Bideford face another cup tie on Saturday, when they travel to Swindon Supermarine in the FA Trophy, before a trip to Redditch United in the league on Monday evening.
