Players needed for new team, which could join the league next year

TORRIDGE District Council will soon meet with the head coach and sports development officer of Exeter Spitfires Baseball Club to discuss setting up a club in Bideford.

In the last 18 months, Spitfires head coach Neale Raleigh has set up clubs in Taunton and Exeter and the new Bideford team would compete against sides from Bristol, Torbay and Plymouth.

The new team would train through the summer and play friendly games this year, with all equipment and coaching supplied by the Exeter club, before joining the league in 2015.

The club will be open to anyone over 16, with Facebook and Twitter accounts expected to be set up in March.

The club’s colours and nickname are still yet to be decided, with names with a cultural link to the area preferred.

Anyone interested in playing or with colour and nickname suggestions can contact Neale Raleigh on 07975 705357 or email Exeterspitfires@hotmail.co.uk.
