Bideford 4-0 Burnham
Bideford returned to winning ways in fine style as they beat Burnham 4-0 on Saturday.
The game looked unlikely to go ahead after the deluge of wet weather which hit North Devon on Friday, but the Sports Ground pitch passed the inspection on Saturday morning thanks to an incredible effort from club secretary Kevin Tyrrell and his fork.
Tyrrell’s efforts were rewarded as a crowd of almost 200 watched the home team’s impressive performance, as Craig Duff fired the Robins in front after 10 minutes.
And their lead was doubled before half time, as Matt Hockley finished off a flowing move to fire them into a 2-0 lead.
Bideford’s dominance continued after the break, and 10 minutes after the re-start they were further in front through a Sean Downing strike.
With 10 minutes to play the Robins’ good day was completed, as Rob Farkins found the net to make it four.
The win equalled Bideford’s best result of the season, and in the process took them back above St Albans into fourth in the Calor League Southern Premier division.
It also kept the Robins’ outstanding home form going, having gone six games without defeat and five without conceding.
But it is their away form which will now be tested, as they travel to Weymouth on Tuesday night to begin a run of three straight away fixtures.
