Yate Town 2-1 Bideford
Bideford’s FA Cup dream is over for another year after losing to a late goal at Yate Town.
The Robins’ 10-game unbeaten run in all competitions came to an end as Calor League South and West division Yate Town beat them 2-1 in the dying moments of the match.
And Bideford might well feel hard done by, having dominated large sections of the first half which saw good chances fall to Craig Duff and Sean Downing.
But their pressure told when Owen Howe fired the visitors in front on the half hour mark with a clinical finish.
Bideford continued to create chances and Kevin Squire and Howe could both have doubled the lead before Yate upped their tempo and began to control proceedings.
Former Bristol Rovers man Lewis Haldene levelled for the home side with 20 minutes to play to set up a big finish.
An upset was on the cards and a winner eventually came from a tap-in in the final moments to send Yate into the third qualifying round and Bideford out.
The Robins will be disappointed with letting a lead slip against lower-league opposition, but will hope to move on and be at their best when Plymouth Argyle visit in the St Luke’s Bowl on Tuesday evening.
