Banbury United 2-3 Bideford
Bideford finally picked up their first points of the new season at the fourth time of asking with a 3-2 win away to Banbury United.
Banbury have also struggled in the opening weeks of the season and Bideford got off to the perfect start on Saturday, as summer signing Craig Veale pounced to score his first goal for the club in the very first minute.
But the home side were level just ten minutes later when the referee awarded them a penalty, converted by Jacob Walcott.
Another penalty on the half hour mark saw Bideford get their noses back in front. Richard Groves stepped up to fire the Robins back in front.
They remained ahead until half-time, and quickly extended their lead after the re-start.
This time it was in-form winger Sean Downing who was on target, scoring for a third game in a row to give his side breathing space at 3-1.
Bideford continued to look the more likely of the two sides to score again, but could not capitalise on a string of decent chances.
And alarm bells must have started ringing when Murombedzi pulled one back for Banbury with eight minutes to play.
But Bideford were able to hold on for a long-awaited first win of the season.
The Robins host Truro City tonight (Monday), with Arlesey Town travelling to the Sports Ground on Saturday.
