THERE was a disappointing set of results for the Bideford Rifle Club teams in their latest Winter League rounds.
But the biggest disappointment came in the final of the Kynoch Shield competition at the weekend. Having won both the county and inter-county finals in the past two years, Bideford A team was looking to make it a hat-trick, but were beaten by a solid performance from Teign Valley Rifles at the Okehampton range, losing 593-596.
A loss for the A team in the North Devon League has put their title hopes in doubt and a low score for team member Martin Morgan has dropped him to second place in the individual championship table, five points behind the leader with five rounds to be shot.
Martin did much better for the A team in the Devon County Winter League, when his 100 “possible” helped them to a one-point victory and kept him in second place in this championship table.
The B teams have been doing better.
In the North Devon League, Adie Pile shot 100 to contribute to a draw with Sidbury A and staying in third place in Division 1. In the Devon County League Adie’s 99 helped the B team to a seven point victory over Budleigh Salterton that keeps them at the top of Division 2.
Ann Travis remains at the top of the ladies’ table in the North Devon League, but has fallen to second place in the veterans’ championship. She stays at second place in the ladies’ table in the Devon County League.
North Devon League 385 lost to Okehampton A 392; Bideford B 385 drew with Sidbury A 385; Bideford C 375 lost to Pinhoe C 380; Bideford D 351 beat Bogey 330.7.
Devon County Winter League: Bideford A 492 beat Yealmpton A 491; Bideford B 486 beat Budleigh Salterton A 479; Bideford C 460 lost to Budleigh Salterton C 469.
