This is based on the club’s organisation and set-up and should enable the club to continue to move forward and stay at the top of amateur boxing, said a spokesman.

Club member Ricky Dymond showed his class in Plymouth against Devonport opponent Kyle Gargett.

Gargett started fast, but could not unsettle the Bideford boxer, who stuck stuck to his task, picking out clean punches.

The encounter was in the balance in the second round, with Dymond showing experience beyond his years with some superb counter punching. The Bideford boxer gave his all in the last round, landing some superb scoring blows, leaving disbelief by supporters when a majority points verdict went against him.

Clubmate Jake Langdon featured on the same bill against home favourite Jack Bellingham.

Langdon, after a long lay off, went toe to toe for three rounds with the Pilgrims boxer, but lost by a unanimous points verdict.

There was also defeat for Billy Butler, who featured in the Western Counties Schoolboys final in only his seventh fight. Although missing out on the win, he showed that he is one to watch for the future.
