BIDEFORD Angling Club members braved the weather on Sunday to fish their club’s January rover – albeit inside the shelter of the estuary in most cases.

A total of 25 seniors and three juniors fished, with founder naturally dominating the catches.

Stefan Peake taking the senior top spot with a flattie of 2lb 7/8 ounces or 102.7%. Second went to Martyn John with another of 1lb 13 3/8oz (91.8%). Third was a fine silver eel of 2lb 3 ½ oz (88.75%) for Tony Gooch.

Chelsea Babb scooped the junior match, with flounder of 1lb 9 ½ and 1lb 8 ½ for first and second place.

The senior league is still wide open, with the fifth different winner from the first five months of the season.
