Bideford have one match left after going out of the Devon Senior Cup

Bideford bring down the curtain on their South West One campaign with a home game against champions Weston.

With nothing to play for – Bideford are safe in mid-table – the message from the management is ‘go out and enjoy it’.

Bideford’s season really ended on Sunday when they lost 35-13 to Okehampton in the Devon Senior Cup semi-finals.

Although Bideford were 13-6 up approaching half-time – Chris Snell converting a Dean Folland try and two penalties – the game got away from them either side of half-time.

Bradley Goaman, the Bideford team manager, had no grounds for complaint.

“Okehampton are a tough side to break down and we found that hard in the first half when we had the slope and the wind,” said Goaman.

“We had ball but they are a hard tackling side and we couldn’t find a way through.

“In the second half they had the wind and the slope and we were not going to get over that and through them as well.”

Bideford were without injured Kiwi wing Dylan Edmonds, who has played his last game for a while at King George V.

Edmonds, who arrived mid-season from Barnstaple, has gone travelling for a year and his first stop is Australia.
