Ivybridge were 12-3 up at the break and 15-3 in front with three minutes to go, which should have been enough.

However, two late tries send Bideford home happy and left the Bridge a point above the drop spots.

Adam Bradley landed four first-half penalties for the home side, Olly Wickett got one in reply for Bideford.

When Bideford’s Richard Norman was yellow carded, Bradley made it 15-3 with the penalty.

Sam Olde got Bideford interested again with a try off a line-out with two minutes of normal time to play.

The winner came in normal time when Bideford’s James Giddy dived on a loose ball deflected over the try line by an Ivybridge line-out forward. Wickett kicked the conversion.

Bideford will be at home to Kingsbridge on Saturday.

THE powerful running of South Molton’s forwards saw them to a 29-10 victory over relegation-threatened Saint Columba in Devon One.

St Columba went into the game on the back of two successive victories, but that record never looked like being extended once tries from No.8 Dan Smith and flanker Sam Howard set South Molton on their way.

The visitors went over again before the break after fine interplay between Smith, Steve Ayres and Roger Pincombe sent the latter over for a try, converted by Ayres.

St Columba had just a Ben Green penalty to show for their first half toils and it didn’t get that much better after the break as winger Dave Northcott extended the visitors’ advantage.

Columba did respond with a try for Green, who ended up with all of his side’s points.

South Molton had the final say when Smith went over in the corner for his second try.

South Molton are at home to Topsham this Saturday.

ILFRACOMBE breathed a huge sigh of relief after sneaking a 14-9 win at Plympton-Victoria.

Devon Two promotion chasers Combe were staring defeat in the face at 9-0 down into the final ten minutes.

Plym-Vic were good value for that lead having enjoyed some good spells of pressure and picking up points through three penalties from Marc Couzens.

Ilfracombe took their opportunities when it mattered and rallied with late tries for Jay O’Byrne and Ben Offield, both converted by Dan Brierly, to rescue the victory.

TORRINGTON’S problems in the Cornwall & Devon Division deepened when they lost 60-0 at Tavistock.

The gap between the teams at opposite ends of the table showed as Tavistock ran in 10 tries without reply.

Torrington will be hoping for an improvement when Teignmouth pay a visit this Saturday.
