BARNSTAPLE Colts moved up into third place in the Devon Cup table by beating Torquay Athletic 27-10.
Torquay are one of the better sides Barum have run into this season, with a pick-and-drive game to match anyone’s.
It took Barum a while to get their hands on the ball in the right part of the pitch, but when they did, Iwan Williams dived in for a try. Williams scored again on 20 minutes with Calum Sumners adding the conversion for a 12-0 lead.
Back came Torquay with a couple of tries to trail only 12-10 soon after the break.
A Sumners penalty and a Jake Meredith try put Barum in the ascendancy. Summers added the conversion and Barum were on their way.
The last act of the game was a try for Quinten John converted by Sumners to earn a bonus point.
Men of the Match went to Matthew Phillips for his contribution in the line-outs and Michael Taylor for his defensive display.
Barum’s season continues this Saturday with a trip to Sidmouth.
