From the kick-off the home side forced an error from the visitors and spent the next 10 minutes camped on their five-metre line.

After good work from the pack the ball was spun down the line for full-back Ben Gadd to score the first of eight tries. Byron Saunders made the kick look easy and the home side led 7-0.

Forwards and backs combined in the 18th minute for Jaymie Todd to score.

Nigel East made the next try. He broke from the breakdown and charged 25 into the Paignton half.

It looked as if East would score himself, but when he was caught a deft offload to Ben Smith produced a try. Byron Saunders converted to leave the score 19-0.

The second half started the same as the first.

Thirteen minutes into the second-half Barum back-row forward Jamie Arnold went over for a try with Saunders converting.

Smith scored his second try in the 61st minute. Again it came through good work at a ruck and superb support play.

Four minutes later the home side scored again. Mark Manley showed the younger members of the side that he still had it by scoring from close range.

The conversion made the score 36-0.

The evergreen Ian Thatcher was the next of the older players to show the rest how it was done. He thundered over for a try in the 73rd minute. Saunders converted to leave the score 43-0.

Smith dotted down the final move of the match to complete his hat-trick and snatch man of the match from Todd or East, who both impressed.
