Barnstaple fought back from a goal down to hammer Cheddar 5-1 on Tuesday night.

The win takes Town’s scoring to 19 goals in their last three games – giving them by far and a way the best goal difference in the Toolstation Western League First division at +20 after just five games.

They were given a scare on Tuesday, though, when Ham put Cheddar in front at Mill Road.

But even when they fell behind, Barnstaple looked by far the better team and sure enough they were level inside of 20 minutes.

Striker Ryan Turner was the man credited with the goal, a scrappy finish at the back post.

The home side continued to create chances, and got their noses in front for the first time just before half time when Dave Pearse beat the visiting ‘keeper.

And Pearse was on target again in the second half to put his team 3-1 up with 25 minutes to play.

Town continued to look comfortable and the icing on the cake came in the final few minutes.

First, Aaron Harper-Penman converted from a corner to make it 4-1, and just moments later it was five as Turner headed in to cap another very good night for the promotion hopefuls.

Town host Radstock on Saturday, and go to Wells City on Tuesday night hoping to extend their impressive run of form.
