Barnstaple Town 5-0 Newquay
Barnstaple Town are through to the first round of the FA Vase after thrashing Newquay 5-0 in the second qualifying round replay.
After a nervy 2-2 draw away to their Peninsula opponents on Saturday, Town dominated the first half to lead 3-0 at the break courtesy of a fine Sam Stephens strike and goals from front men Ryan Turner and Maksym Kowal.
Such was Barnstaple’s dominance that they could and possibly should have been further ahead at the break, but a missed penalty from Billy Tucker denied the home side a 4-0 half-time lead.
But they weren’t deterred and duly made it 4-0 15 minutes into the second half when the in-form Ryan Turner netted for a second time on the night.
A late strike from substitute Tom Rossitor sealed an excellent win for Town, who having come close to bowing out of the competition at the weekend will now go on to face Almondsbury away in the first round on October 19.
