Members have taken part in both field and target competitions, with the indoor Winter Warmer Portsmouth tournament at Crediton, hosted by Kyrton Archers, and the not-so-warm outdoor 3D Target Shoot at Hatherleigh, where Elmtree Archers ran the proceedings.

Well-established stalwarts produced the goods, with Estelle Edwick taking the gold with a score of 572 and Paulette Mills silver with 570 in the Kyrton Ladies Recurve competition and Jo-Ann Glover also giving a good performance.

In the field, Nick Davies took silver in the American Flatbow class and club chairman Alan Hearson gold in the Compound Unlimited class and also recorded the highest score of the day with 621.

Chris Glover won gold in the Under 14 Junior Recurve category indoors with an impressive 407 at Crediton.

Relative “newbies” from last summer’s beginners course continued to excel, with Alan Davies shooting a personal best 431 in the Gents Barebow indoors, missing out on a medal by just three points and in the Hatherleigh 30 target 3D field shoot, Jason Quinn topped his previous best by a massive 60 points and Helen Cohen-Quinn smashed her personal best by 98 points.

Anyone who feels like joining them can go to the club website for details of a taster or beginners’ course.
