Ryan Levien opened their scoring on half-an-hour, curling the ball into the top of the net.

Axminster were level shortly after the break thanks to a long range strike and Appledore then had Jamie Frickleton sent off.

But Appledore overcame the setbacks and substitute Richard Chumbley gave them victory with a stinging 20-yard shot on 70 minutes.
