Bideford Football Club has also managed to purchase new playing strips and equipment for all ages.
BIDEFORD Football Club has set up two new colts teams at under eights and under 10s levels thanks to a £3,000 grant.
The money from Torridge District Council’s Youth Initiative Budget has funded training and training kit for the new teams as well as strips and a range of equipment for the club.
More than 90 children have benefited from the grant which also helped fund balls, goals, first aid equipment, nets, hurdles, cones, bibs and more.
Neil Blackburn, colts coach at the club said: “The grant funding from the council has enabled us to not only grow the club, but the feedback that we have had from the players has been brilliant.
“They feel really proud to turn up for training and for matches dressed the same, looking smart and representing their town.
“The kit provision ensures that all children from six to 16 have the opportunity to take part on a completely even footing, in high quality Adidas kit, with suitable equipment, regardless of their financial situation.”
Finn Davies, aged seven, was one of the players to receive the new strip.
He said: “The kit is the best football kit ever as before we all wore different colours and now we all look the same and very smart.”
