Road run sees vintage vehicles form procession through the town as part of Barnstaple Fair celebrations.

Barnstaple Fair celebrations kicked off today (Tuesday) with a vintage road run through the town.

The steam engines were led over the old bridge and along the Strand by fair enthusiast George Lovering.

A prayer was said at the Civic Centre for late members of the Showmen’s Guild, before the procession moved off through the town.

It featured a showmen’s engine built in 1917, fully restored in 2008.

It is now owned by the Gliddon family in Colyton.

Other steam engines attending included those owned by the Shambrook family of Tawstock and Nick Dicker from Nomansland.

Dozens of people gathered to watch the vintage engines pass by and wave them on.

They lined the old bridge as the engines passed by with cameras at the ready.
