Follies' pantomime tribute
 | | THE dwarfs in the Follies' pantomime |
IT is January and that can only mean a return of the annual Westward Ho! Follies panto, with the whole cast and crew determined to make it one of the best yet in tribute to one of their longest standing members.
The six performances of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Kingsley Hall in Westward Ho! are dedicated to the memory of Follies member Ron Jewell, who sadly passed away on November after more than 40 years with the group.
The first show is on Friday at 7.30pm, followed by matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2.30pm. Doors open half an hour before each show.
The performances are repeated at the same times on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the following weekend.
It is the Follies' 61st annual panto production, a classic show with all the traditional fun plus a few modern twists designed to delight and entertain people of all ages.
Writer Chris Lane and director Jackie Sharrock have worked in plenty of laughs, while the seven "dwarfs" are hardly the conventional size and unfortunately "Grumpy" just can't seem to keep a straight face!
"It's been so much fun in rehearsals, I might even come along and see it myself!" joked Jackie.
At all performances collections will be taken in the memory of Ron Jewell, to be passed on to the North Devon Hospice.
Tickets, costing £6 for adults, £4.50 for children and "recycled teenagers" or £18 for a family ticket for two adults and two children.
They are available on the door but advanced bookings are advised. Please call Jackie Sharrock on (01237) 4761176.
