Netball pair are champs for all seasons

CAROL Anne Diamonds have retained the Division 1 title in the North Devon Netball League despite two close final matches.

Titans Apollo took an early lead, but fell behind in the third quarter and despite a strong finish lost out 11-14.

Diamonds then faced Venners Bakery Vipers, needing a win to be sure of the title. They raced into a 6-0 lead, but Venners fought back with a strong second half. Diamonds' early lead, however, was sufficient to hold on for a 12-9 win which gave them the title by a single point from their clubmates Sapphires.

Titans Apollo finished third, ending with a great 22-9 win over Carol Anne Trolls.

Titans Jupiter finished Division 2 in style, beating both Venners Baby Cobras and Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks with ease to finish as the only unbeaten team in the summer league.

Like the Diamonds, they have completed the winter and summer league double.

Carol Anne Amethysts won their final game to secure the runners-up position.

Divisions 3 and 4 both produced extremely close finishes.

Panthers finished one point ahead of Mole Valley Moltons in Division 3 despite two convincing wins in their final two games by the Moles.

A narrow defeat for Carol Anne Rubies at the hands of Langtree Reunites Rivals dashed their hopes of summer silverware as they finish in third, one point further back.

The top teams in Division 4 all finished with convincing wins, leaving North Devon Homes on top by a single point with Venners Bakery Pythons and Reeds Silverside equal second.
