County consults bikers on new parking scheme
MOTORCYLISTS are urged to have their say on a proposed new parking scheme being put together in Barnstaple specially for them.
A recent consultation carried out as part of a Devon County Council motorcyle safety campaign brought a call from bikers for convenient and secure parking.
The county is now proposing a parking scheme in Boutport Street to address the issues pout forward by the bikers, such as adequately wide bays, secure locking points, good signing, a location close to the town centre, good street lighting and CCTV security.
But before it goes ahead, the county is keen to hear what bikers think about it.
Cllr David Morrish, executive member for the environment, said: "This scheme reflects what bikers asked for in the survey, but we are keen to get feedback from riders before we go ahead. Once a standard has been agreed it is hoped that similar schemes can be introduced in other places around the county."
