Jet ski warning
APPLEDORE lifeboat coxswain Martin Cox is appealing to jet skiers to check their craft and their fuel before going to sea after being called out twice at the weekend to jet skiers who had run out of petrol.
Mr Cox said: 'The RNLI is a voluntary service. Although there are usually only three lifeboat crew on the actual boat, every inshore rescue takes time, costs money and involves around a dozen volunteers giving up their free time to help those in trouble. It only takes a boat or jet ski owner a few seconds to check whether they have enough fuel. Please could everyone check their fuel levels before they go out and thus avoid putting themselves into the potential danger? Taking a spare full fuel container can save many an embarrassing moment!'
