Healthy growth on industrial estate
THE arrival of the North Devon Primary Care Trust headquarters in South Molton brings with it news that business in the town is continuing to grow.
The Trust's new base at Crown Yealm House at Pathfields Business Park, is due to be officially opened tomorrow (Thursday) with the unveiling of a plaque by South Molton Mayor Councillor Mervyn Way.
The purpose built three storey complex has been hailed as one of the most prestigious office buildings in North Devon.
Jeremy Filmer-Bennett, chief executive of the North Devon Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Pathfields Business Forum, said: "We are delighted to welcome the Primary Care Trust to Pathfields.
"The Trust brings a different type of industry of white collar work to what is primarily a manufacturing site.
"A number of jobs of this type are useful for South Molton and provide a sound base for the town to be able to continue to develop."
Tony Foster of Webbers Commercial estate agents said: "This is a real boost of confidence for South Molton and Pathfields Business park in particular.
"The park is fast becoming a popular site for companies seeking good value premises in a beautiful country setting with first class road links to the rest of the county.
"Webbers currently have further interest from a number of companies from outside the area who are looking to relocate to Pathfields and there are still two suites available at Crown Yealm House, each offering about 2,500 square feet at asking rentals from £7 per square foot per annum."
The PCT - responsible for planning, funding and providing health care services for the people of North Devon - relocated to the new premises in March this year after having previously been based in more than three locations across Barnstaple.
It is hoped that the new HQ will enable teams to work together under the same roof and improve staff and public access to key members of staff.
The new location also provides the Trust with easier access to Mid and South Devon.
Chief Executive of the North Devon PCT, Jac Kelly said: "The new premises have made a huge difference to staff who are now able to speak to colleagues face to face and make decisions much more quickly.
"Patients and the public will also benefit from the fact that the PCT is now structured and located in a way which allows us to develop and improve all healthcare services much more efficiently. We look forward to continuing to serve the people of North Devon.
